Workers and activists around the world marked May Day with protests on Wednesday, expressing dissatisfaction over rising prices, low wages and calls for greater labour rights. May Day, which falls on May 1, is observed to celebrate workers’ rights and often used as an opportunity to air economic grievances or political demands.
In France, Chile and Turkey, riot police and protesters clashed during the traditional annual march, as tear gas was thrown and several fires lit. Throughout Latin America, workers marched to protest austerity measures and demand higher wages, while those in the Philippines and South Korea rallied to criticize government policies.
“May 1st is a day of international workers’ struggle. And on this day — and every day for that matter — I’d like to say to proletarians of all countries: Let’s unite,” said French protester and high school teacher Julie. “Let’s unite against the decisions of the capitalists, the bosses of the big multinationals, helped by the governments who defend their own interests.”
“It’s not a celebration — because we don’t want to celebrate work, given the conditions under which we work and the wages we get. We’re here to ask, as we do every year, for better working conditions,” French protester and sewage worker Kerkoudi Karim said in Paris.

Normalize worker owned co-ops and ?ctive unions. The working class makes the world run, the world should be run by the working class. This is??democracy?.????????????
all the corporate heads and shareholders had some nice lunches with martinis today laughing at stories like this and wonder just how many more workers rights they can erode,
All happening in only democracy countries, you cant protest in china, russia and north korea
Has there ever been a successful country with a centrally-planned economy?
Capitalists and industry captains have been allowed to get away with too much, leaving the working poor struggle to make ends meet. Keep the workers poor so that they would have to keep working for you. In general, labour is always cheaper than capital! The world has never seen true communism, only dictatorship.
In a Democracy Canadians should be able to work.
Sooon the Order and robot cops ehhh
