“Are you craving a delicious burger, some crispy fries, or a refreshing drink? Well, why not satisfy those cravings while also supporting a great cause like helping children in need?

May 8th marks McHappy Day across all McDonald’s locations in Canada. On this special day, a portion of the proceeds from every food and beverage sale will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and other local children’s charities.

CityNews is proud to be a part of this initiative, with some of our very own team members lending a helping hand at various McDonald’s locations on this day.

### A Day of Giving Back

CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss, along with Afternoon Drive anchors Maria Vinca and John Ackermann, rolled up their sleeves and stepped behind the counter to assist with various tasks. From making burgers to pouring drinks and even cleaning up, the team embraced the opportunity to make a difference in the community.

Maria Vinca shared her experience of assembling some quarter pounders, her favorite order, and expressed how fulfilling it was to give back to local children’s charities.

### Unveiling the Operations

John Ackermann marveled at the intricacies of McDonald’s operations, stating that witnessing the order processes and seeing the well-oiled machine in action was eye-opening.

This year, customers also have the option to round up their order to the nearest dollar, contributing even more towards supporting local charities. Additionally, exclusive merchandise will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds going back to RMHC Canada.

### Making a Lasting Impact

Over the past 30 years, McHappy Day events have made a meaningful impact by supporting over 468,000 families across Canada. This goes to show the power of coming together as a community and making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

So, the next time you visit McDonald’s on McHappy Day or any other day, remember that your simple act of buying a meal can go a long way in brightening the future of many children in need. Let’s continue to support these initiatives and spread joy and hope to those who need it the most.”
