‘That’s pretty nasty’: Doug Ford’s tense exchange with reporters | GREENBELT CONTROVERSY

127

Can you explain to people at home who think that your government is corrupt explain to them why you don’t see this as corruption well I’m trying to build homes that’s my intention it’s not none of that I’m trying to help part of the plan of building homes well you know

Something that that’s you know that’s pretty nasty you saying that but at the end of the day I I have one reason one reason I ran for Premier is to represent the people to represent the little guy the little gal that’s what our family that’s that’s what our family that’s

What our family has always done I’ve always been out there just a handful of developers benefit okay how is it that out of all of the the green belt just a handful of people who have donated to you personally managed to benefit from this and you say know about a lot of

People would look at that and say that doesn’t make sense something doesn’t look right well thank you Colin for that uh just to be uh Frank and you know this Colin uh these Builders donate to all the parties they donate to the green the NDP they donate to the Liberals the PCS

But that’s been going on for years but I don’t care about a $1,500 donation I care about the people that I meet every single day that I travel around this province and talk to that people are struggling right now we were the ones who put money back into people’s pockets

You know no matter if it’s child care for instance through the Ministry of Education there’s 86,000 more spaces right now that’s saving families $88 to 12,000 uh per child we we took you know 10 cents off the gas and we still have it off just imagine folks if we added

The additional 10 cents per liter we eliminated the the sticker tax we got rid of the 412 and the 418 tolls we’re about saving uh money for for the people of Ontario and that’s what we’ve done thank you

Ontario Premier Doug Ford had a tense exchange with a reporter at Queen’s Park who asked about corruption in his government amid a growing scandal over development in the Greenbelt.

  1. My daughter is a nurse, her husband is an electrician.
They can’t afford to buy a home to raise their three children in.
A place to call their own.
That’s not how things should be.
But it will never go back to what life should be like in our province

  2. Doug Ford is as as dirty and crooked as it gets. He's also stupid, so it should be very easy to trace the massive bribes his rich Developer Pals have paid him to violate the Green Belt's protections. — He sure as HELL didn't do it for $1500!

  3. Why are things more expensive? It's simple economics more demand for the same supply you guys are screwing over born-and-raised Canadians and we don't have a choice. Let the public vote on the big issues and see where the cards fall. Stop immigration now cuz you're not going to lower prices by adding more demand for the same supply.

  4. Ford’s developer friends will hire him to boards of directors when he retires. Remember how Mike Harris screwed over shareholders to benefit his crony Frank Stonach? Fat Doug’s playbook. Only, there are more members of the fat Ford clan needing payouts.

  5. If we get rid of 70% of the government (federal & provincial), then we can sell off the buildings they occupy & the private sector can either convert the buildings to appartments or demolish & build homes on it… more government = more complication, more obstacles & massively more wages for useless beurocracy we do not need or want

  6. He's just trying to build homes, y'all! And he decided to use the Green Belt, an area of importance to our wildlife and the beauty of our region, rather than the hectares and hectares and miles of open field available to sell and far better to develop housing on. Oh, and he made sure to spread the word of the development to all his friends and relatives so they could buy up the land at a bargain basement price before development began. This is absolutely disgusting.

  7. The reason why housing is so expensive in the GTA is because of the dumb Greenbelt. Even if developers were to create housing in non-Greenbelt areas, you eco-radicals dont support and sabotage that. You eco-radicals want to drag the entire society with you down to the Middle Ages again
