During Operation Medusa in 2006, Canadian troops were ordered to attack a Taliban stronghold in Afghanistan.

It was a brutal, seven-hour gunfight that had a lasting impact on the war against the Taliban. During one weekend, five Canadian soldiers were killed and another 40 wounded.
