COP29: Canada “doesn’t have best story to tell” on climate change, Guilbeault says

24

With COP29, the UN climate conference, kicking off Monday in the Azerbaijan capital, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault says Canada is not doing enough to fight climate change.

“Canada doesn’t have the best story to tell over the last 30 years in terms of fighting climate change,” Guilbealt told Global’s Amandalina Letterio. However, he said Canada is turning the corner on this issue.

Guilbeault pointed to Trudeau government measures like carbon pricing as an important tool in the fight against climate change and argued that more countries are implementing a price on pollution.

The UN climate change conference runs Nov. 11 to Nov. 22.
