Hurricane Beryl leaves two dead, charges toward Jamaica

18

good morning Scott what type of Destruction have we already seen and how powerful really is the storm at the moment as we speak good morning actually this is quite a concerning storm as we’re already seeing from the video it has left a trail of Destruction and death in its wake already and there is still quite a path ahead for the storm as it continues to move through the Caribbean and we heard from researchers that this is already an historic storm so early in the season it’s the strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic this early in the season hurricane researchers are concerned this is a troubling precedent for what could be a dangerous hurricane season setting an ominous tone as hurricane activity this year is predicted to be above normal pointing to unseasonably high ocean temperatures and as we saw from the video already quite a trail of Destruction a and even though of course this is thousands of kilometers away this is a particular concern to many Canadians who of course have family and love ones in the region or Trace their proud Heritage to the many Caribbean Nations as well and so quite concerning to see this video as we’re seeing roofs ripped off houses trees just pulled out of the ground and quite a lot of Destruction as we’re seeing from this drone video through the streets and of course it’s going to take quite some time to get help to so many areas as we’re seeing the size of the storm is quite significant and the path as well and also just you know the magnitude of the storm as you said already reaching a category 5 storm as it continues to pick up steam and pick up strength as it moves through Open Water XE indeed pretty powerful devastating for sure talk to us about the path here Scott where exactly is it headed next and what is it going to look like there yeah of particular concern next is Jamaica as that Nation issued uh already quite a lot of concern issued a hurricane warning on Monday while tropical storm warnings were issued for southern coasts of the Dominican Republic and Haiti so that is a particular concern right now Mexico sorry excuse me Jamaica and then towards the Yucatan Peninsula and Cancun Mexico before hitting the mainland of Mexico later this week of course it will start to lose some power as as it does hit some of these islands as it does hit some land but still quite a strong storm as it has reached Category 5 status at the moment and will continue to pick up steam in O in open ocean before targeting Jamaica and so that is quite a concern right now as you see the path right there before it continues to hit the Yucatan Peninsula and the mainland of Mexico so it’s not going to hit the mainland of the United States at the moment but of course as we always know hurricane track can change at a moment’s notice actually you bet Scott of course you’re keeping a close eye we will check back with you later CDV Scott Hurst thank you for now thank you
