“Canada Day celebrations were in full swing in Medicine Hat, with activities and festivities galore for residents and visitors to enjoy. From glow-stick dances and local punk bands to fireworks and a KISS tribute band, the city was alive with excitement.
The Medicine Hat Skateboard Association kicked off the celebrations with a bang, hosting a night of music, dance, and fireworks at Kin Coulee Park. Thousands of people gathered to participate in the fun-filled event, showcasing the community spirit and energy that defines Canada Day.
One resident, Yusuf Mohammed, shared his sentiments about the celebrations, highlighting the sense of belonging and pride he felt as a newcomer to Canada. The fireworks, accompanied by the national anthem ‘O Canada,’ resonated deeply with Mohammed, reaffirming his appreciation for his new home.
The festivities continued into the following day, with a pancake breakfast, games, vendors, and Canada’s largest amateur skateboarding competition, Beat the Heat. Despite some delays due to rain, the event drew in crowds eager to witness incredible skating and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
Over at the Stampede Grounds, the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede hosted its own set of activities, showcasing local talent and offering a range of entertainment for all ages. From musical performances to demonstrations and booths from various organizations, the event was a reflection of the community’s support and engagement.
Redcliff joined in the celebrations as well, with residents coming together for a day of fun activities organized by the Redcliff Lions and Lionettes. From Tae Kwon Do demonstrations to kids’ crafts and a pie-eating contest, the community spirit was alive and thriving.
