“Early Monday morning, a single-vehicle crash on Highway 7 in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ont., resulted in five individuals being rushed to the hospital. The scene of the accident, at the intersection of the highway and Elm Tree Road just west of Lindsay, was marred by a downed hydro pole and a car off the roadway, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

One individual sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Toronto hospital, while four others with minor injuries were taken to Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. The aftermath of the incident led to the closure of a section of Highway 7 between Colborne Street and Elm Tree Road as authorities conducted their investigation, with normal traffic flow resuming around 1 p.m.
