The atmosphere was vibrant with Munira Abalulesa elegantly donning a white jacket and a red headscarf, embodying the spirit of Canada Day with her subtle yet powerful attire.
Newcomers to Canada like Patrick Detchoua marked their first Canada Day by embracing the festivities and looking forward to the pyrotechnics and drone display. However, anticipation turned into disappointment as the 200 drones meant for the light show were nowhere to be found, leaving attendees eager for the spectacle.
In Langford, the Starlight Stadium hosted a crowd of about 3,000 people, with celebrations reaching new heights compared to previous years. Councillor Keith Yacucha highlighted the importance of local celebrations, allowing West Shore residents to stay close to home and partake in community events.
As the day unfolded, families and friends gathered in Sidney, View Royal, Colwood, and other parts of Greater Victoria to commemorate Canada Day. Parks in Nanaimo, Courtenay, and Campbell River also saw lively celebrations, uniting communities in the spirit of pride and joy.
