"Celebrating Canada Day in Aldergrove: A Community Event to Remember"

On July 1st, Aldergrove Fair president Karen Long and the local legion branch collaborated to host an unforgettable Canada Day celebration. The event brought together volunteers, non-profit organizations, and community members for a day filled with fun and festivities.

Community Partners Coming Together

Booths were set up to showcase local non-profit organizations such as the Aldergrove Food Bank, Alder Grove Heritage Society, Langley Meals on Wheels, and the Aldergrove Business Association. Jodi Mangat and her family were at the Aldergrove Elks booth, selling treats and snacks to raise funds for Super Oli, a young boy battling cancer. It was a true demonstration of community support and unity.

"We value our community partners and wanted to support and expand the legion’s current Canada Day program," Long expressed. This sentiment of togetherness was evident throughout the event, as everyone came together to celebrate Canada’s birthday.

A Day of Festivities

The day included a barbecue lunch, live performances by Ukrainian dancers and local Korean drummers, a flag-raising ceremony, military vehicle exploration for the kids, and even Canada Day cake. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, with activities for people of all ages to enjoy. It was a true community event that brought joy and laughter to all who attended.

Celebrating Across Langley

While Aldergrove was abuzz with Canada Day celebrations, other parts of Langley also commemorated the occasion. Events took place at McLeod Athletic Park, Fort Langley, and a drone light show was scheduled for Willoughby Community Park. It was a day filled with pride, unity, and a shared love for our country.

Conclusion: Unity in Community

As the festivities came to an end, one thing was clear – the importance of community. Events like the Canada Day celebration in Aldergrove bring people together, fostering relationships and creating lasting memories. It reminds us of the power of unity and the joy that comes from coming together as a community. So, as we move forward, let’s remember the spirit of togetherness that was felt on Canada Day, and strive to keep that sense of community alive in all that we do."
