“Canada, a melting pot of diversity and culture, has long prided itself on being a welcoming and inclusive nation. However, when it comes to the workplace, the representation of this diversity has not always been reflected. But, in recent years, Canadian employers have taken significant steps towards enhancing diversity and equity among their employees.

Strides Towards Inclusion

In a country where over 450 languages are spoken and various religious beliefs coexist, creating an inclusive workforce is crucial. Some companies have made diversity, equity, and inclusion a top priority, while others lag behind. To shed light on the companies excelling in this area, Forbes will soon unveil the rankings of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity 2024.

Methodology Behind the Rankings

Forbes teamed up with Statista to survey 40,000 Canadian workers at companies with a minimum of 500 employees, excluding the government services sector. Anonymous ratings were collected on diversity-related issues such as age, gender, ethnicity, disability, and LGBTQ+ equality. Participant evaluations of companies were based on industry experience or word-of-mouth. Each company’s diversity initiatives, such as employee resource groups and hiring programs for Indigenous individuals, were also factored into the rankings.

The Road to Inclusivity

The rankings were determined based on a combination of survey results and diversity-related practices within each company. Current employee responses held more weight than past employees or second-hand knowledge. Responses from underrepresented groups were especially prioritized. The final list showcases the 200 companies with the highest scores for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Looking Ahead

Mark your calendars for July 9 when the results of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity 2024 will be unveiled by Forbes. Stay tuned to see which companies are leading the way in creating a more inclusive and equitable work environment for all.

In a world where diversity is celebrated, these rankings serve as a reminder of the progress made and the road ahead towards true inclusivity in the Canadian workforce. Let us continue to strive for workplaces where every individual is valued and respected, regardless of their background or beliefs.”
