Canada Day 2024: Are there fireworks near you?

“Get ready to celebrate Canada Day in the Queen City with a lineup of exciting events and activities happening all around. From free pancake breakfasts to fireworks and fun runs, here’s what you need to know to make the most of this special day.

Wascana Park Extravaganza

Kick off your Canada Day celebrations with a free pancake breakfast at Wascana Park from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The festivities continue with a family fun zone, featuring local performances, police cars, fire trucks, and more entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t miss the Main Stage entertainment starting at noon, leading up to the headliner performance by 54-40 at 8:30 p.m. And of course, fireworks will light up the sky at 10:30 p.m.

Road Closures and Safety Tips

With increased traffic expected around Wascana Park, the Regina Police Service is stepping up traffic enforcement and some roads will be closed. Remember to park only in designated spots, lock your doors, and remove valuables from your car. Be patient, plan your route ahead of time, and follow the rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone.

Canada Day Fun Run and Walk

Join the three-kilometre or five-kilometre fun run and walk in Wascana Park starting at 9 a.m. Both races will start and finish near the Queen City Elizabeth II Flower Gardens, offering a scenic route for participants to enjoy.

Other Celebrations Around the City

Government House, Emmanuel Villa Personal Care home, and Buffalo Meadows Pool Park are also hosting events to celebrate Canada Day. From flag raising ceremonies to Indigenous cultural showcases, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and participate in throughout the day.

City Services and Closures

As you plan your day, keep in mind that Regina Transit will follow Sunday routes and schedules, while civic offices and RPL locations will be closed. Waste collection will continue as scheduled, and certain leisure centres and outdoor pools will be open for public use. Check the City of Regina’s website for specific schedules and updates.

Make the most of Canada Day in the Queen City by joining in the celebrations, staying safe, and cherishing the moments with family and friends. Happy Canada Day to all, and may this day be filled with joy, unity, and gratitude for the wonderful country we call home.”
