“Swift Current Celebration Weekend: A Festive Lineup of Events for Everyone to Enjoy
As the final day of Frontier Days coincides with Canada Day, Swift Current is buzzing with excitement and festivities this long weekend. From parades to rodeos, live performances to fireworks, there is something for everyone to enjoy during this time off work and school.
The Parade Kickoff
Kickstarting the weekend on Saturday morning, vendors will set up at Market Square under the big tent, offering a variety of goods alongside live performances. The Frontier Days Parade, themed “Ignite the Spirit of Culture,” will commence at 10 a.m. from the Innovation Plex, making its way through the city and concluding at Gibbs Street. The sight of floats tossing candy to young onlookers is not to be missed.
Midway Rides and Exhibits
At noon, Westcoast Amusement Midway rides and the Commercial Exhibits open at Kinetic Park, promising fun for the whole family. From the Adventure Wranglers to the Culture Stage performances, there is no shortage of entertainment options to explore throughout the afternoon.
Rodeo and Concerts
For those craving some action, the 2024 Frontier Days Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) Rodeo starts early at Kinetic Park’s Magnus Newland Arena. Attendees can expect great entertainment and fun interactions. In the evening, head over to the Grandstands for Ikons of Rock, a band that will have the audience rockin’ out to classic hits from the 70s and 80s. The night will continue with former American Idol contestant Brayden King’s country music performance at the cabaret.
End with a Bang
As the clock strikes 11 p.m., the Living Sky Casino Fireworks Show will illuminate the night sky, providing a dazzling finale visible from all corners of the fairgrounds. It’s a perfect way to end a day filled with festivities.
Canada Day Lunch
On Monday at noon, Tourism Swift Current invites everyone to Market Square for a free Canada Day lunch and flag-raising ceremony. The City of Swift Current and Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre will provide hot dogs and Canada Day Cupcakes for all attendees.
