breaking overnight this is Incredible video really of a major fire in Richmond British Columbia it engulfed an old rail bridge and sent those thick clouds of black smoke High into the sky lots of concern about what was in that smoke lots of curiosity as well as to what was going on and Linda ward has been updating us hour by hour what’s the latest yeah so there are reports now that the fire has been put out but we’re still waiting on official confirmation of from firefighters because the at last we heard from them it was uh going to take them quite some time to get uh this completely uh done especially the investigation which continues on scene today but what we know right now is that uh sometime between 8 and 9:00 last night they got a call uh to a warehouse fire now this was uh at a dock uh near the river rock Cino in Richmond when they arrived they found Flames heavy smoke coming from that warehouse they were able to put that one out pretty quickly but it did then uh spread to a nearby uh Trestle Bridge an old uh decommissioned rail Bridge running uh next to the Oak Street Bridge uh in Richmond now fire Crews couldn’t get to that uh so they had to bring in fire boats uh to attack it from the water the black smoke that were seeing there created major uh air quality issues for the East End of Richmond South Van couver New Westminster concerns that it could even disrupt air traffic as well and concerns about what might have been in that smoke so that was put to fire officials it smells like it’s might be craso I can’t really say for certain but uh it definitely is burning like a Creo Bridge um so that’s we’re kind of we’re figuring it will be a creot bridge and it might be a little bit challenging to put out but we’ll know once the uh firebat gets on scene and they start putting water on it we’ll know better [Music] and uh you can see the scene here we also uh had some visuals from uh traffic cameras as well just showing how quickly this fire spread and it certainly created a lot a big spectacle uh for people who were uh in the area you could see there uh just how quickly that fire uh spread that’s about 10 minutes and sped up but that that was about the span of about 10 minutes from nothing to what you’re seeing uh and people stopping to take a look I was in the casino and I heard a lady said she heard some loud bang and there was a fire going on and I walked outside was curious to see what was going on and then before I knew it everything was on fire over here we were swimming at the beach and we seen a big blaze of fire so me and my little brother and my friend Roberto here we just drove up to check it out everybody was around it was just like it was like a it was pretty crazy like there has a bit of fire here in a long time yeah no I’ve never seen anything like this enrichment F there are air quality warnings still in the area today because of this fire so the advice is If You Smell Smoke bothering you shortness of breath coughing that kind of thing go inside of course we’re going to be expecting updates through today from fire officials just as to what even the initial cause of this fire was still can’t get over those those first pictures I mean it unev really a blaze thank you so much Linda Ward up the story through the day
