Princess of Wales ‘making good progress,’ attends Trooping the Colour

turning to news overseas Now All Eyes in London were on Katherine the Princess of Wales this morning as she made her first public appearance since being diagnosed with cancer that was Katherine with her children on the balcony of Buckingham Palace earlier today overlooking the annual trooping the color parade in London to Mark King Charles’s birthday the king attended as well despite also undergoing treatment for cancer cbc’s Dominic validus Recaps the day’s events for us today was was a big moment as you’ve alluded to we haven’t seen Katherine the Princess of Wales officially in public for uh six months uh this was as you say her first official public appearance since her cancer diagnosis in January so although Palace officials insist that this is not the start of a full-time return to public duties for the princess today will have been reassuring for many people who’ve been Keen to see her back in the public eye and the crowds here in London and those watching at home had plenty of opportunity today to catch a glimpse of her earlier uh we saw her taking part in The Carriage parade which is a key part of the royal procession marking uh the king’s official birthday we then saw her and her children watched the main event from the window of the Duke of Wellington’s former office which actually overlooks horse guards parade where trooping the color is traditionally held and then there was that big moment the big moment of the day the princess along with her husband Prince William and their three children joining the king queen and other senior ORS on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the traditional RAF fly pass which this year involved 10 waves of aircraft topped off by the Red Arrows display team thankfully uh the Terrible Weather we had here in London this morning cleared just in time for the RAF to do their thing but it was a as I say a big moment today a big moment for Katherine for the royal family and of course for the king who’s also as you say receiving treatment for cancer we know from Palace officials that he was very pleased to learn that his daughter-in-law would be there for his official birthday celebrations today now yesterday Katherine actually released a statement in which she gave an update on her health she said her treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months but that she is making good progress in her words I must say Marian it was a very honest and personal statement she mentioned how she has good days and bad days when she said she felt weak and tired and that although she was looking forward to today’s big event and is hoping to join a few other public engagements this Summer She acknowledged that she’s not out of the woods yet and that she is learning how to be patient especially with the uncertainty that comes with a cancer diagnosis that’s the cbc’s Dominic validus in London

Catherine, Princess of Wales, on Saturday made her first public appearance with the Royal family since receiving a cancer diagnosis. She said she is making ‘good progress’ with her treatment. Trooping the Colour is a ceremony recognizing the monarch’s official birthday each year.
