Introducing New $100,000 Grant Program for Rural Communities Across Western Canada

Rural communities across Western Canada have a reason to celebrate as a new $100,000 grant program has been launched by the UFA Agricultural Community Foundation. This initiative is set to provide much-needed support for community capital projects that enhance recreation, education, and culture in agricultural communities.

Expanding Reach and Support for Rural Communities

The UFA Agricultural Community Foundation is no stranger to supporting rural communities. In the past five years, the former UFA Rural Communities Foundation has contributed $500,000 to 20 community capital projects in Alberta. Now, with the launch of the new grant program, the foundation aims to provide $100,000 annually to projects that will make a positive impact on rural communities.

Opportunities for Eligible Communities

One of the key highlights of this grant program is its inclusivity. Any community located within 200 kilometers of a UFA outlet is eligible to apply for funding. This means that communities in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and western Manitoba are all eligible to benefit from this initiative. In the past, only communities in Alberta were considered for grants, so this expansion opens up new opportunities for a wider range of rural areas.

Applications Open Until August 31st

Eligible communities can apply for grants of up to $100,000 to support their community projects. The application window is open from June 14th to August 31st, giving communities ample time to put forward their ideas and proposals. Kimberly MacDonald, UFA Community Investment Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the new grant program and hinted at additional components that will be announced in the near future.

Closing Thoughts

With the launch of this new grant program, rural communities in Western Canada have a valuable resource to support their development and growth. By focusing on projects that enhance recreation, education, and culture, the UFA Agricultural Community Foundation is helping to create stronger, more vibrant communities.
