UofT protests: Union workers join pro-Palestinian encampment as deadline to clear out passes

On the 25th day of the pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of Toronto (UofT), various workers unions from the Ontario Labour Federation (OLF) rallied in support of students and other protesters on Monday.

This comes as the university said that it’s taking legal action in an effort to clear an encampment of pro-Palestinian protesters from its downtown campus. A statement posted Monday morning from university president Meric Gertler said the school is seeking an injunction and asking the court for an expedited case conference.

“If the University of Toronto makes a move against the students, they’ll have to go through the workers first,” OFL president Laura Walton said.

As Jaden Lee-Lincoln reports, despite protesters now in violation of trespassing rules, they plan on staying put.
