Okanagan Pet Expo: Fundraiser for Non-Profit Dog Rescue Society – Okanagan with Double the Impact

“**Unleashing Fun: A Recap of the Okanagan Pet Expo**

Over the weekend, downtown Kelowna was taken over by a flurry of wagging tails and excited barks. Pet owners flocked to the Laurel Packinghouse for the second annual Okanagan Pet Expo, turning the area into a pet paradise.

**A Paw-sitive Experience**

The expo featured over 50 vendors offering everything from treats to toys for our beloved furry companions. Event producer Rosanne Ting-Mak Brown expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s super exciting; we have over 50 vendors with pet-related items,” showcasing the diversity and abundance of pet-related goods available.

**From Retirement to Dog Fashionista**

One of the vendors, Barbara St. Hilaire, shared her journey of transitioning from retirement to creating dog bandanas and bowties. With a nudge from a friend, she embarked on this new venture, showcasing the creativity and passion present among pet lovers at the expo.

**Giving Back to Our Furry Friends**

In addition to supporting local vendors, the event also aimed to raise funds for a good cause – Paws it Forward, a non-profit dog rescue organization that has been operating for 13 years. Co-founder Charlotte Stringer highlighted the organization’s growth and reliance on volunteers, emphasizing the community’s dedication to helping animals in need.

**A Pawsitive Conclusion**

As the pet expo came to a close, organizers hoped to raise at least $1,000 for Paws it Forward, showcasing the collective effort to support and give back to our four-legged friends. The event served as a reminder of the joy and companionship that pets bring to our lives, and the importance of supporting organizations dedicated to their well-being.

The Okanagan Pet Expo was not just a gathering of pet owners and vendors; it was a celebration of the bond between humans and animals, emphasizing the love, compassion, and responsibility that comes with being a pet owner. Let’s continue to cherish and care for our furry companions, making the world a better place for all creatures, big and small.”
