“Prize for terrorism”: Israel condemns the recognition of a Palestinian state by European nations

54

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the announcement made by Ireland, Norway and Spain that they will soon recognize a Palestinian state, calling it a “prize for terrorism.”

“Rewarding terrorism will not bring peace and neither will it stop us from defeating Hamas,” Netanyahu said on Wednesday.

Ireland, Spain and Norway say they hoped other Western countries would follow suit, prompting Israel to recall its ambassadors.

Meanwhile, Palestinian leadership welcomed the announcement and hoped that others would follow suit, saying a two-state solution will help achieve peace in the Middle East.

All three European countries painted the decision as a move aimed at accelerating efforts to secure a ceasefire in Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza.

  1. Israel, you have no soveringty over the Palestinian people. For years you have proven that you cannot be trusted to treat them fairly within your state so the only solution is for the world to grant them a state of their own.
