Ontario’s Ford government says it plans to put forward legislation later this week that would allow it to suspend drivers’ licenses for people found guilty of auto theft.
The province’s Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said the plan would “send a message” to auto thieves.
The legislation will propose an escalating scale of license bans, up to a potential “lifetime ban” for those convicted three times, according to the province.

Car theft and horse theft share a history. They are essential tools for life and business, so society deems them to be an extension of yourself and family. Same goes for your personal dwelling. Theft from a warehouse is one thing, but breaking into someone's home is certainly a disgusting, violating crime that needs appropriate punishment. History tells us that they ramped up the penalties and "got tough on crime" AND IT WORKED. It worked so well that 50 years later they deemed the law unnecessary. It had become virtually unthinkable for the vast majority.

Now realizing that theyre already breaking the law, you need to up the penalties so that they get an extra 5 years per car stolen.
So any repeat offenders/multicar thefts would be punishable harder and maybe the first timers can still get a strict punishment but could make up for it and change their life around
