Argentina prices continue to climb despite slowing monthly inflation

Argentina prices are continuing to climb, despite some signs of deceleration, with the embattled South American country’s annual inflation rate set to edge closer to 300 per cent.

For fruit and vegetable seller in Buenos Aires, Sandra Boluch, even though there are comments on the inflation rate going down, the benefits are not being felt.

“We feel this much more and we hope that this huge crisis will help, that our sacrifice will serve a purpose and that we will get out of this,” one shopper said.

The government of libertarian President Javier Milei, which inherited a major economic crisis, has touted its success in lowering monthly inflation, which has declined this year since Milei took office on Dec. 10, and sharply devalued the local peso currency, unleashing an initial inflation surge.
