BC woman pays twice for Sunwing flight to Mexico, refuses to sign non-disclosure agreement

A B.C. woman was shocked to hear that her name was not on the flight manifest when she showed up for her vacation trip with Sunwing airlines at Vancouver International Airport.

The airline gave her no choice but to pay for a second ticket. And before Sunwing would refund her the second fare, she was pressured to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she refused.

  1. Now Sunwing lost too much reputation by trying to cover up such a small incident. Just say sorry to the customer and give the money back plus a free return ticket, would costed the airline almost nothing but instead getting this very bad publiciry.

  2. While I would preter to give my business to Canadian companies having been screwd over once and reading the horror stories of others, I now fly exclusively with foreign carriers – fortunately all my travel is international so I'm not hostage to our sub par national airlines.

  3. Clearly she was owed her money back and without signing anything.

However, in cases where it is a generous offer and not actually legally owed, this kind of paperwork is often required. Things like when a car manufacturer covers an out of warranty repair voluntarily (i.e. no recall).

This was probably just something they spam everyone with. Likely she could have gotten the money back on her own.
