Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement, says she’s not surprised at how many people have spoken up publicly about sexual assault, but at those who have stopped and listened to the voice of survivors over the years. Her comments come after news that disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein will face a new trial after Labour Day weekend. Last week, the highest court in New York overturned a 2020 rape conviction against the movie mogul, a landlocked moment in the #MeToo movement.
