A new conservation centre at the São Paulo Zoo has become the home for critically endangered Spix’s macaws on May 3. Twenty-seven macaws are currently being looked after. The Spix’s macaw, also known as the little blue macaw, is listed as a critically endangered species in Brazil. According to biologist Fernanda Guinda, who’s also the head of the zoo’s bird section, there are about 330 birds left in the world, with 27 currently in São Paulo. #Spixsmacaw #parrots #Brazil #Endangeredspecies #Animals
