White House addresses “serious” reports of Indian espionage agency’s role in assassination plots

37

The White House has responded to reports that Indian espionage agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), plotted to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Sikh activist and American citizen, on U.S. soil in 2023.

“This is a serious matter, and we’re taking [it] very, very seriously,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a briefing on Monday, adding that an investigation is underway.

Pannun is known as one of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s most vocal critics in the U.S. The report also suggested India’s Research and Analysis Wing was responsible for the separate shooting death of a Sikh activist last June in Canada.

“The government of India has been very clear with us that they are taking this seriously and will investigate. And we expect that accountability from the government based on that,” Jean-Pierre added.

  2. India is too big & too important. As for Pannu, he is going to spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder for the illusive assassin. It's Pannu who will feel terror for the rest of his life.

  3. The western media is next, how they have tried to run a campaign of disinformation against India because they cant fathom that a former colony is beating them all at a global stage. Keep crying.

  4. O wait didn't US take out Saddam a legitimate leader of a country? Didn't US take out a serving general of Iran? those are all good? but Taking out Nijjar was wrong? O wait he was a plumber, yeah right! No one in India wants to get back to the 80s and 90s Punjab. Only Jatt sikhs want a homeland carved out of India while living abroad. They just want a holiday home.
