Canada gears up for potentially “explosive” wildfire season

After a devastating wildfire season in 2023, officials are warning that above normal temperatures and persistent drought could mean Canada is in for a potentially “explosive” wildfire season, with the possibility of yet another historic year.

With that warning in mind, federal officials gave an update showing there could be early and above-normal fire risk from British Columbia to Quebec in April and May.

As Sean Previl explains, there’s action being done to be proactive on limiting wildfire risk nationwide, and there are things each Canadian can do themselves to help.
