World leaders are calling for both answers and an investigation from Israel after an IDF airstrike killed seven aid workers with World Central Kitchen (WCK) on Monday, leading the charity to suspend its delivery of 100 tons worth of critical food supplies to tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza.

“[Canada] expects full accountability for these killings, and we convey this to the Israeli government directly. Strikes on humanitarian personnel is absolutely unacceptable,” Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly wrote in a post shared to X.

Amid the demands for an investigation, Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari commended the work of WCK and confirmed that the nation “will get to the bottom of this” and share its findings “transparently.”

Among the seven killed were the Palestinian driver, citizens of Australia, Poland and the United Kingdom – as well as a U.S.-Canada dual citizen.

“We are in contact with the WCK, the humanitarian needs are there and the Amalthea Initiative will continue,” Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides claimed during a press conference on Tuesday, adding “the tragic events should not discourage us.”
