Toronto police chief Myron Demkiw will take questions from the media on Monday fter attending a board meeting on the latest hate crime and auto theft statistics.

Toronto police made headlines last week for an officer’s suggestion that residents leave their car keys by the front door to avoid a home invasion, seemingly to let criminals more easily steal their vehicle without confrontation.

The Toronto Police Service has said home invasions and break-ins related to auto thefts rose 400 per cent last year.
