Police in Edmonton shared details today about the terrorism charges laid against a man accused of attacking Edmonton City Hall the RCMP say a 28-year-old man fired a gun and threw Molotov cocktails inside the building in January the RCMP has charged 28-year-old bazani sarvar of Edmonton with multiple terrorism and terrorism related
Offenses the cbc’s Terry wath joins me live from Edmonton so Terry we first learned about the terrorism charges uh yesterday uh what did we learn that is new from police today well Andrew the part that really stood out for me was the type of weapon that was used in this
Attack it was an SKS Assault Rifle this is a Russian design weapon that has been used in several high-profile crimes in Canada uh you might hearken back a couple of years to a bank robbery at a Bank of Montreal in sanch uh 2022 also there was the uh the the case of two
Police officers murdered near Toronto this is a fairly well-known weapon in Canada it is not a prohibited weapon here provided that the uh the the the weapon does not take more than five rounds of ammunition so here is what we did learn too is that he had three magazines with him with
150 rounds of ammunition so uh quite substantially well armed as well as four Molotov cocktails filled with gasoline now why he put that gun down uh why he was able to be apprehended so quickly uh really the police didn’t answer that but Glenn cells the uh superintendent in charge of the integrated National
Security enforcement team said we were just really lucky no one was hurt or killed so I won’t I can’t speak to what he intended to do but I would suggest that we were very lucky that that um people weren’t uh injured um and that more damage didn’t occur given given
Given the weapons that were involved and how it unfolded we were like we were very lucky and the other thing that we learned that was of significance was that while the Edmonton Police Service was doing their investigation of course you may recall that he was initially facing six charges that were not
Terrorist related uh the National Security team also known as inset was uh was doing their work and they did additional interviews and searches and they determined that uh this was politically motivated enough to Warrant two terrorism specific charges and nine other charges that were viewed through a
Terrorism Nexus as they put it so Terry what have we learned about the suspect’s motivation for the attack well this is uh this is the big question that police did not answer at this news conference is uh we do know that there was a 4-minute video purportedly put out by
The man who was charged uh before this attack happened they would not say that if that that formed the basis of any of the charges that were laid or the decision to go with the terrorism charges uh but they will say that this was politically motivated but that’s as
Far as they’ll go Andre Terry thank you the cbc’s Terry wath live in Edmonton
The suspect in the Jan. 23 shooting that led to a lockdown at Edmonton’s city hall is now facing 11 terrorism-related charges. In a news release, the RCMP said its Integrated National Security Enforcement Team has charged Bezhani Sarvar, 28, with counselling commission of a terrorism offence and possession of property for terrorist purposes. Sarvar is also facing nine criminal charges in connection to the city hall attack.

They'll go on-and-on about the 'assault rifle', but fail to ask or answer whether it was legally owned or not. It's a horrible, horrible situation, but the political positioning in the reporting is so transparent.
They will go on about the gun and won't reveal that he's a Caucasian male who was ranting about "wokeism". Now which political group does that describe?
What is everybody so angry about these days ?
If it was a far right white supremacist, we'd all know by now.
defund the corrupt cbc
Muslim strikes again. Wow, nothing to see here folks. What a joke Canada has become.

One year in Club Fed. Apology from Justin Truedumb and $10 million dollars compensation
As a Republican and proud NRA member, let me say that I find you Canadians confusing.
You act as if people should be able to go outside and expect not to get shot. What kind of FREEDOM is that?
Deport !
If Canada doesn't strengthen the rules against these crazy people, soon we will have another Texas where shootings happens pretty much every other day…
Could you imagine if a Convey or Trump supporter did the exact same thing? They would have a full explanation, why he did it, how he did it, probably call him a bunch of names and the full report would probably hit them media in a day or two. Getting sick of these double standards.
With a name like that and the fact that the coverage focused almost entirely on the weapon thats how you know this was not right wing terror lol
oh a Danielle Smith poster child.
