In Washington a first victory for Nikki Haley in the 2024 campaign tonight winning the Republican presidential primary in the district of Colombia Haley defeated Donald Trump carrying nearly 63% of the votes to his 33% the symbolic win follows her losses in the Missouri and Idaho caucuses over the
Weekend just two days ahead of super Tuesday before tonight’s win the former South Carolina governor said she may not keep a pledge to support the former president president if he becomes the Republican nominee at the time of the debate we had to take it to where would you support
The nominee and you had to in order to get on that debate stage you said yes the RNC is now not the same RNC now it’s so you’re no longer bound by that pledge no I think I’ll make what decision I want to make but that’s not something I’m thinking
About joining me now to break all of this down for us is political analyst Eric ham Eric let’s start with Nikki Haley now walking away from from that pledge well but is she really I think what we’re seeing from Nikki Haley is she’s recognizing that perhaps the end
Is near and so as that becomes more of a reality for her I think what we’re seeing here is actually Nikki Haley Unbound and I think this is Nikki Haley making clear that there are many other options available to her the question is will she actually pull the trigger on
Actually walking away from this pledge she is a DieHard Republican and if she’s not going to to support or endorse the Republican nominee the question is who in fact would she endorse in this race it certainly is not going to be Joe Biden okay Eric and we have a big week
Coming up of course and a major Supreme Court decision could come as soon as tomorrow that’s just before millions of Voters head to the polls for super Tuesday walk us through these two issues well depending on what happens in terms of what the Supreme Court does
It’s likely not going to have an impact on on the outcome of the races Donald Trump is heading into Super Tuesday looking very very strong and I think he’s going to win in a route the only thing about what happens in terms of what the court does will determine
Whether or not it impacts Donald Trump and his ability to actually stay on the ballot in some of these super Tuesday States perhaps not maybe tomorrow or March 5th but possibly March 12th Eric here in Canada we hear the term super Tuesday just how big is super Tuesday and what are you looking
For well super Tuesday means that there are multiple States voting at the same time and so what we’re looking at in terms of what happens is just how big the spread is going to be also what’s important in the early states that voted we know that those many of those states
Were open primaries and these states these are going to be closed primaries which means you won’t have the possibility of Democrats voting in Republican primaries and vice versa and so now we really get a chance to see just how strong Donald Trump is as an actual candidate considering that he has
Actually underperformed in many of the early primary states that we’ve seen thus far all right Eric ham joining us tonight thank you
