Polish farmers clash with police as thousands protest outside PM’s office

Scuffles broke out between protesters and police in Warsaw on Tuesday as thousands of Polish farmers marched towards the prime minister’s office, blowing handheld horns, waving flares and national flags, protesting EU agricultural policies.

Pawel Walkowiak, one of the protesting farmers, said they’ll continue protesting because they have “no other choice”.

The protests that began two weeks ago are against constraints placed on them by EU measures intended to tackle climate change, raising costs, and what they say is unfair competition from abroad, particularly Ukraine.
