More than 300 Canadian soldiers are currently deployed in Poland and elsewhere as part of that operation and today a delegation of top government officials got a better sense of what ukrainians need and what more Canada can do to help help our Abigail Bean is in Poland’s Capital tonight

Abigail Neo Canada has been criticized for not delivering the aid and has promised fast enough that commitment now tops $1 13 billion at a visit to a Polish military base the defense minister acknowledged there have been challenges specially this is a simulation of a mortar or drone strike medics to treat

Two people seriously hurt the vehicle was taken out too on this polish medical military base polish and 14 Canadian soldiers train ukrainians it’s part of operation unifier the work they are doing here is literally saving lives Sunday the Deputy Prime Minister defense minister and chief of the defense staff

Got a firsthand look at the work Canadians are doing and a better sense of the urgent need when they leave here they don’t have the tools and the life saving kit that they require um to do that great work so we were just trying

To in in any small way we can push um you know a recommendation for us to have certain items such as tourniquets um litters or stretchers and hypothermic um management kits major Heath Robson says ukrainians are forced to improvise in the field doors become stretchers Canada has been criticized for not delivering

Aid fast enough the defense minister says the new 800 drones promised could be delivered as soon as April meanwhile there’s no timeline for the delivery of a badly needed missile air defense system bought a year ago there have been some challenges in providing Ukraine with what they need we we work very closely

With them we work with all of our International Partners we recognize that production is prevention and we need to do better the Deputy Prime Minister learned about an additional Challenge from the soldiers here they told her Russia is targeting medic you take out a medic and more soldiers are likely to

Die it’s a war crime under the Geneva Convention and it changes how these Medics function the ukrainians do not fly the Red Cross because it just makes them a high value Target um which is very unfortunate to hear we can’t show you the faces of the ukrainians on the

Up unifier Canada’s ambassador to Poland says the country is looking for continued support and engagement from all countries as it sits on Ukraine’s doorstep the Prime Minister did not visit the base he is in Warsaw and will meet with Poland’s president and prime minister Monday before flying back to

Ottawa me too all right Abigail Bean in Poland tonight thanks Abigail the last barrier is about to be cleared with Hungary getting ready to ratify Sweden’s push to join NATO tomorrow Hungary is the last remaining member of the military Alliance to approve Sweden’s application which was made in May of 2022 after Russia

Launched its invasion of Ukraine Hungarian prime minister Victor Orban said on Friday last week that the country’s Parliament will vote on Monday to Greenlight the bid if successful Sweden will become NATO’s 32nd member for the first time in 3 months there is some optimism that another temporary ceasefire could be reached in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirming today that negotiators are working on a potential hostage deal that would lead to a pause in the fighting it comes as more than a million civilians are trapped in southern Gaza in desperate need of Aid our Mike Dray has more on the

Negotiations and how they come amid a growing backlash to the Netanyahu government’s handling of the conflict we want a deal now the Israeli protesters chanted as the call for an end to the hostilities in Gaza grows louder it makes me sick that you have

Had to beg the people whose job it is to bring them home it makes me sick frustrations have clearly reached a boiling point as police moved in with horses and water cannons leading to multiple arrests and injuries the protesters are demanding two things the release of Israeli

Hostages and an end to the humanitarian crisis that has engulfed Gaza this doctor says three to four babies are being crammed into incubators made for one the only thing they’re guilty of is that they live in Gaza but there is hope however faint that the basic Contours of a hostage deal in

Ceasefire is close despite the fundamental differences between the two sides the goals that Israel has and the goals that Hamas uh has are very very different Israel as well as just about every Democratic State understands that it cannot be peace in the Middle East unless Hamas is removed Hamas wants an

Agreement that somehow would allow them to rebuild and stay in power and those two goals are not compatible Hamas started out with just crazy demands but if they come down to a reasonable uh U situation then yes we’ll have a hos you I hope so yet prime minister Benjamin

Netanyahu was quick to insist that an operational plan for the invasion of Rafa will be approved this week and without a deal Israel is happy with he says the conflict will be over within weeks not months we have a long long way to go there is some optimism but I think

We have to temper that with the realization that uh Hamas uh uh is is holding something like a 100 uh hostages and that they have not in the past respected any ceasefire even if it’s not the end of the war a temporary ceasefire could allow civilians to get out of

A series of raids targeting organized crime 18 people have been arrested 10 of them are now facing charges connected to a Spate of gang violence near Quebec City as Mike Armstrong explains an organization called the blood family mafia appears to have picked a fight with the Hell’s Angels

That is Quebec City police Sunday morning confirming the criminal organization thereafter and the identity of the man running it the blood family mafia police say is led by Dave Turell a 27-year-old from the Quebec City region right now on the Run he’s believed to be in Europe but on the streets of Quebec

Police are targeting the bfm the reason the gang’s war with the Hell’s Angels is boiling over Criminal ologist Maria morani says the conflict is over the 10% cut drug traffickers normally pay to the Hell’s Angels to sell in Quebec City so’s bfm has for months refused and fought back

Now the breaking point came in the village of St Mesi Quebec last weekend three men with ties to the Hell’s Angels were according to reports taken hostage and tortured one of the men escaped killed the captor who was watching him and went to a nearby home to call police

Just 3 days later the gang is believed to have kidnapped another man linked to the Hell’s Angels he was reported missing in sagon Quebec and then dropped off hundreds of kilometers away the man was found in the streets of Montreal police say he didn’t cooperate with them

And had been mutilated there are reports one of his toes and a finger had been cut off morani says the bfm is borrowing tactics from drug cartels and street gangs in Central America sell and his gang are trying to scare people from fighting against them and to scare

Their basement mint conditioned Gretzky rookie cards can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars each it’s no secret that many parents are having children much later than in the past and a new study suggests another change men are more likely to want children someday than women but

Just who’s taking on the bulk of responsibility may be part of that choice Sean preville explains deciding to have a child can be a difficult choice but a recent study in the US has found a difference between men and women and who wants a child more

And women will see too they’re going to do not just more of the child care and maybe the harder parts of child care but um more housework as well um compared to Partners so you know it might give them a bit more pause the study from Pew Research Center found about half of

Americans aged 18 to 34 say they want to become parents someday nearly six and 10 men want to become a father while just under half of women have motherhood in mind Professor Marina Aid says it’s not a surprise noting women will not only face a big toll on their bodies but on

Their employment as well sometimes known as The Mummy penalty um they see much slower progression in their careers they see slower wage growth in their careers and so women who have children relative to not just men but relative to uh women who don’t have children um see a penalty economics professor Marie Connelly

Studied this idea of a child penalty in Canada and found women still had not recovered their pre-birth earnings 10 years later it doesn’t mean they’re not going to have children but they might hesitate or might respond I’m not so sure uh whereas for men this aspect

Doesn’t seem to be uh to to come into play her 2023 study found little or no change for men before or after their child’s birth statistics Canada recently said the country’s fertility rate has hit its lowest level in recorded history but while experts are not advocating for

Policies to get more people to have children changes should happen to make the decision easier such as a better work life balance more affordable child care and changing attitudes around fatherhood so Child Care responsibilities can be shared more equally Sean preville Global News next the historic Halifax Church

Founded by the son of a slave honoring black Heritage Month an historic church in downtown Halifax held an annual black Heritage Month celebration today the church was founded in 1832 by Reverend Richard Preston the son of a slave who came to Nova Scotia from Virginia today’s service was filled

With cultural performances tributes to African Nova scotian history and celebrations of the church’s Legacy in the community our Vanessa Wright was there sometimes we have spoken words sometimes we have dance we always have drums those kinds of things yeah African Heritage Month celebrations never fall short at New Horizon’s Baptist church although

It’s done every year the historical Halifax Church puts on a show for the community to enjoy most of them have some roots in this church which is always wonderful but many of them also are figures around Nova Scotia 400 years before they get free lead Pastor Dr Ronda Brittain delivered a captivating

Sermon about Freedom pointing to references in Nova scotia’s history where for those of African descent it was stripped away the story of africville for example a once flourishing black community in Halifax that was dismantled in the 1960s after the city underwent an urban renewal that led to the displacement of hundreds of residents

Also the untold story of the black loyalists more than 3,000 loyalists arrived on the shores of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in the late 1700s though some were free many were not despite its relevance to Canadian history many here say it’s fallen through the cracks and was subsequently left out of history

Books over the years a lot of folks you know they they don’t necessarily know that history that black history in Nova Scotia they don’t necessarily know the untold stories that um you know that they might be forgotten especially going in and another school like that like black history and African Heritage ain’t

Really taught as rigid as I’d like to see in schools so like you know a lot of people ain’t really getting that history but this Sunday service Dr Britain says serves as an OE to that history and a reminder that for many equality is still to be obtained you

In tonight’s top story, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that more than 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in the past two years since Russia’s full-scale invasion. This is the first time Ukraine has openly given details of how many soldiers have died in over a year. Additionally, Ukraine’s defence minister stated that the country is “losing territory” in its grinding war with Russia due to the failure of about 50 per cent of the promised weapons failing to reach Kyiv on time. Redmond Shannon reports.

Canada has been supporting Ukraine’s war effort by training 39,000 Ukrainian troops and equipping soldiers in Poland. The Canadian delegation met with top government officials to discuss how Canada could provide further assistance to Ukraine. While the work done by Canadians has been acknowledged, Canada has been criticized for not delivering aid fast enough. Defence Minister Bill Blair has promised that the drones that were promised will be delivered as soon as April, but there is no timeline for the delivery of the missile air defence system bought a year ago. Abigail Bimman reports.

According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, negotiators are working on a potential hostage deal in Gaza, which could lead to another temporary ceasefire in the region for the first time in three months. The negotiations come amidst a growing backlash to the Netanyahu government’s handling of the conflict, as more than a million civilians remain trapped in southern Gaza with urgent need for aid. Mike Drolet has more on the situation and the ongoing efforts to find a resolution.
In Quebec, 18 individuals have been arrested in connection to a series of gang-related crimes near Quebec City. Ten of these individuals are now facing charges related to the violence. Mike Armstrong explains that an organization called “Blood Family Mafia” appears to have picked a fight with the Hells Angels.

Meanwhile, a recent study conducted by the Pew Research Center has revealed that more young men in the age group of 18-34 years want to have children than women. Experts in sociology and economics suggest that this trend may be partly due to the various challenges women face in their personal and professional lives after having a child. The study has prompted a closer look at the factors that influence people’s decisions to have children and how society can support them in making those choices without undue pressure. Sean Previl explains.

Finally, a historical church in Halifax held its annual Heritage Month worship service on Sunday. As Vanessa Wright reports, the service was filled with cultural performances and tributes to African Nova Scotian history.

  1. Slovak Prime Minister Fico stated the conflict, which began in 2014, originated from an "outburst of rage from Ukrainian neo-Nazis", whom he believes "went wild". He suggests the West inhibited a peace agreement in Ukraine from being signed, despite it being very close to fruition. "For two years we have helplessly observed the slaughter of Slavs in a conflict that some in the West have benefitted from," Fico wrote on Facebook, uploading a recording of a radio interview. He argues Russia was "misled" with a promise that NATO would not expand towards the east, yet today, Ukraine's inclusion is being contemplated. Fico recognizes this as a catalyst for the potential "commencement of World War III".

The Slovak Prime Minister asserts that the West's strategy hasn't been successful, and that Russia hasn't been weakened either politically or economically. He argues that believing a nuclear power such as Russia can be defeated in a conventional war is naive. Meanwhile, he suggested the European Union should propose a peace plan. Additionally, he reiterated that Slovakia has no intentions of lending military support to Ukraine.

The irretrievable losses of the Ukrainian army exceeded the number of the active military personnel. This was confirmed by the independent research group War Tears, which shared the new data on the Ukrainian losses, based on the special math model. According to the report released on February 22, 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost 377,324 servicemen killed. For the first time, the number of killed servicemen exceeded the number of active fighters of the AFU, which is currently 366,625 servicemen.

The analysis also revealed that the average monthly losses of Ukraine amount to about 16 thousand dead. As reported by various other sources, the number of irretrievable wounded losses is comparable to or exceeds the number of dead. Thus, the total number of irretrievable Ukrainian losses may be estimated at about 32 thousand people per month.

War Tears concluded that “even if Kiev manages to solve all the problems it faced with during the training of military personnel, then 500 thousand soldiers mobilized will be enough for about 16 months of hostilities, that is, until the summer of 2025.

  2. LMAO. Russia has a smaller GDP than NY state. It lost a war with Afghanistan. It has extended vulnerable supply lines to Ukraine. Ukraine needs military aid to ensure its future and fully degrade Russian forces so that Russia stops being a threat, not only to Ukraine, but to the rest of NATO. Canada has only supported Ukraine to 0.319% of its GDP, which ranks it 18. People like whining. Estonia has supported Ukraine to a tune of over 3.5% of its GDP. No one is asking Canada to go broke. But Russia IS a danger. And it will be cheaper and easier at this point to stop Russia at this point than later.

  3. How do we know this is a Russian invasion? Because the news told us? Because politicians told us? After a really long history of lying to us about everything else including Covid and Hunter Bidens laptop?

  4. Hilarious that all the experts suggestions to increase the fertility rate do not include increasing wages so that people can afford to have children.

Average family sizes have been decreasing for years in lockstep with the stagnation of wages.

  5. This is what happens when you make a clown your president. What Ukraine should have done is to use the early battle field gains to gain a better position at the negotiation table, not fight to the last man and still lose. Ukraine had no chance in a protracted war, they should have seeked peace long ago when they still had chip to negotiate.

  6. My condolences to the families of thousands of Ukrainians ?? who are victims of senseless Russian invasion.
The invasion was initiated by Putin with the backing of Chinese Xi Jinping, when the two signed a "No Limits" partnership at the Beijing Genocide Winter Olympic 2022.
    – Since then millions have fled the country, thousands have died on both sides, and dozens of cities have been destroyed.
The invasion, with the added brutality of the Wuhan virus, has drawn many countries into hardship.

  7. lmao what a clown, Ukraine has lost half a million soldiers hence why they are literally kidnapping people off the streets of Kiev & Lvov to throw on the front like after a few days of basic training. It's a sad story, this actor and his overlords keep lying through their teeth.

  8. Even before Oct 7th, Israel was holding over 1000 Palestinians hostage, illegally – no criminal charges, no opportunity of legal defense. Just kidnapped. Many of them under 18. Some have reported sexual abuse. In the West Bank, accused Palestinians (the ones who actually receive a charge) are tried under military court with a 98% conviction rate! West Bank Jews (illegal settlers) are charged (if at all, mostly they get off, no charges, not even for murder or theft) under Israeli law. This alone shows it is apartheid – two different criminal systems. Wake up Trudeau and Poilievre!

  9. Russia got them there Kinzall Hypersonic Missiles which carries a small nuclear warhead , just a small warhead about 10 times the size of the ones the US dropped on Japan in 1945 and the latest in satellite equipment constantly watching what's going on on the ground in Ukraine . There will be no missile systems of any kind within striking distance of Russia ! Russia is not the aggressor ! Nazi's are !
