Indian farmers’ unions rejected the Indian government’s proposal for minimum support prices (MSPs) for a period of five years on Monday, stating that the proposal is not in the interest of farmers.

“After taking in account all the facts and having discussions, both the unions have decided that this (government’s) proposal is not in the interest of farmers and therefore we reject this proposal,” President of Bhartiya Kisan Union Ekta (Farmers’ Union) Jagjit Singh Dallewal said.

The unions said they have decided to proceed with the ‘Delhi Chalo,’ or ‘Delhi Chaos,’ march towards Delhi from 11:00 a.m. local time on Feb. 21.
