Regina Humane Society opens new animal community centre

“All the Exciting details About the Regina Humane Society’s Move to a New Home After 60 Years.”

The Regina Humane Society (RHS) is finally bidding farewell to its Armour Road location and moving to a new facility after a remarkable 60 years. It’s an emotional moment for the RHS family, especially for Lisa Koch, the RHS executive director. The journey to this transition has been long, taking over a decade to materialize, and now it’s finally time to move buildings, and they’re doing so enduringly.

New Beginnings
After careful planning and with two years of construction, the Regina Humane Society welcomed its new facility at 4900 Parliament Avenue. This new home boasts better facilities and will be able to accommodate animals more comfortably. The new building comes as a welcoming sight with bigger enclosures and plentiful space.

It’s More Than Just Housing
An important point to note is that the new space is not designed to house more animals but rather focuses on educational and outreach programs. The building is made to provide the best possible care for the animals and support their welfare. The state-of-the-art facility also includes dog and cat adoption galleries, a classroom as well as new features like video screens showcasing information about animals currently housed.

A Bright Future
What’s more impressive are the additions such as dog-sized parks, a clinic, and outdoor spaces for both cats and dogs to roam and enjoy nature and play.

Looking Ahead
RHS is in so much need of the space that they are currently having to find some rented space to house animals, so this move comes at the perfect time. They are also working on raising funds to pay off the remaining $1 million of the cost of this impressive new building.

RHS will now head into the future, confident that their new home will enable them to fulfill their mission. It is through the generosity of the Regina community that an important milestone has been reached, and animals will benefit for generations to come.

The RHS team is genuinely grateful for the support and can’t wait to share their new home with everyone.

With the new facility operational, we can expect a future where animals are well taken care of and find their forever home faster. This transformation is a momentous occasion worth celebrating as it marks a leap towards hindering animal homelessness and suffering in the community.
