71

The Prime Minister promised to pass legislation within the first 100 days to protect Canadians from toxic online content and to hold platforms accountable last month a 12-year-old in Prince George 12-y old boy took his own life in response to online sextortion it’s been 764 days since the government has sworn in and

More of these incidents have been happening every year when will the government introduce the online harm Bill to protect kids the right honorable prime minister Mr Speaker when it comes to protecting our kids I think we all agree that we have to do everything we possibly can and

That is why we have spent such significant amount of time working with communities including racialized communities working with experts moving forward in the right way to keep our kids safe uh from online harms to keep them safe in the virtual world that more and more of us spend increasing amounts

Of time we need to to make sure we get it right we need to make sure we get it right both for the grand principles of freedom of expression and uh freedom of assembly that are so important uh uh in our democracies but also make it right

Uh for communities that are all too often subject to discrimination and marginalization that’s what we’re The Honorable member for bernabe South is causing harm to kids we need action the president president of cop 28 is looking to make oil deals with Canada the minister says their discussions were only about climate but

His Department refuses to say who is part of the Canadian delegation until after cop 28 is the prime minister sending the minister of the environment to Dubai to commit to eliminating fossil fuels or to sign new operating contracts the right honorable prime minister need to be careful about associating uh a tragedy

That happened in Prince George with actions or inactions of any particular government we understand how horrific this is for the family for the community and we will continue uh to work uh to make sure that kids across this country are protected and that is why we are serious about moving forward and

Protecting from online harm it’s a very serious issue which we will always treat with the appropriate respect and responsibility this is not it’s inappropriate to make accusations this is a tragedy we all need to work on together

On Wednesday, during question period in the House of Commons, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was asked when his government will introduce legislation to protect children online.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh raised the query in light of the recent tragedy where a 12-year-old Prince George, B.C. boy died by suicide due to facing sextortion — a threat to leak personal sexual content to the internet. Singh claimed the Liberals promised to usher in this legislation early on when taking office.

Trudeau called the incident a “tragedy” but went on to say the government’s “action or inaction” shouldn’t be associated with the outcome of the incident.

  1. THE NDP IS RESPONSIBILE FOR THIS IN BC!!!!!
THE NDP HAS LOST 500 KIDS IN FOSTER CARE!!!!! THEY ARE STILL MISSING!!!
ITS NOT ONLY KIDS THAT NEED PROTECTION!!!!
ADULTS NEED PROTECTION AS WELL! IVE HAD A STALKER FOR 7 YEARS AND NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE!!!!!

  2. If the Canadian government would not sexualize children since pre-school, and in elementary schools etc. than online sextortion would not be that frequent in t;his country either. How this government wants to protect minor children from sexual extorstions, if at the same time it made it mandatory curriculum in all education institution that children to be sexualized from young age? of course this sexualization from early age makes the children vulnerable targets for predators, blackmailers, sex-traffickers etc. These are CONSEQUENCES. Young kids learn (or get indoctrinated) in schools, that all sorts of sexual experimentation are normal, they are encouraged to experiment, and as they do, they make pictures, videos and shares with friends, and anything shared online is really open to view for the entire world, as anyone can get access to those images, videos and there are people who will use those information for profit, for exploitation and what not. The current Liberal Canadian government is responsible for that 12 years' old being chased into suicide!
that life lost is Trudeau's legacy.

  3. I believe the company refers to it in its safety minutes meetings as "Seasonal affective disorder" Its the seasons that make you feel depressed, not the government, taxes, corruption and intrusion into privacy…

  4. Check out the history of any government that censors speech , ,…confiscation of ordinary hunting firearms, ,…controls the media narrative in this case instead of guns and violence it’s our own tax payers money payed to these shills ,..Are you reading this Global News ?

It wasn’t too long ago it seems any liberal minded person would shout and scream over government censorship of speech , not any longer. Canada’s politicians along with their state media is made up of some of the worst people in our society today ,

  5. Are the clips mixed up? Are Mr. Singh's questions prerecorded? Did Mr. Singh raise a question that Mr. Trudeau tried to avoid? Otherwise, that was HIGHLY random of Mr. Singh to bring up fossil fuels and climate change in an exchange about sextortion.
