“Canada’s team entered the Estadio Nacional in Santiago with great fanfare, led by flag-bearers Para tennis athlete Rob Shaw and Para cyclist Shelley Gautier. Gautier’s smile brightened the spirits of everyone as she waved the Canadian flag triumphantly beside Shaw.

An International Event in an Historic Stadium

The 2023 Parapan American Games’ opening ceremony at the Estadio Nacional brought together more than 2,000 athletes from 31 countries. With its rich history, the stadium provided a stunning backdrop for this inaugural international multi-sport event in Chile, bringing together a unique blend of athleticism and cultural significance.
