Armenians worried about their missing relatives after Azerbaijan this week launched a lightning offensive in the breakaway region, which led to the surrender of Armenian separatists a day later.

Local residents such as Grigor Zakharyan said that it was hard to contact family members in Nagorno-Karabakh and find out what is going on in the territory.

“Nobody knows where anyone is (in Nagorno-Karabakh). In the forest or in the mountains, are they hungry or cold. Maybe they are no longer alive and we won’t see them. I don’t know. It’s something like this. It’s very difficult,” Zakharyan said.

Meanwhile, several Russian peacekeeping vehicles, including large trucks, were seen leaving the disputed region.
